Getting Started

Type "start a video edit" into the Bom.Ag chat and the editor opens in your browser.

Prerequisites

  • Bom Agent v1.9.4 or later (check Settings → About)
  • bom-av tool enabled (Settings → Tools)
  • At least 2 GB of free disk space for FFmpeg work files
Note

The whisper.cpp model is downloaded automatically on first run. Use Wi-Fi.

Open the editor (three ways)

You have three entry points.

  1. Click "Video Editor" in the left sidebar.
  2. Type "start a video edit" in the chat.
  3. Drag a video file from your file manager onto the Bom.Ag window.

The editor runs on a local Kestrel server (127.0.0.1 on a random port) and opens in your default browser.

Tour the UI

  • Top toolbar: project name, DOM/WebGL toggle, refresh ↻, SignalR connection dot
  • Left asset panel: imported video, audio, image files
  • Center preview: playback, pause, timecode
  • Bottom timeline: multi-track + playhead
  • Right chat panel: natural-language commands
Tip

A green dot means Bom.Ag is in sync. Grey or red? Press ↻ to reconnect.

Build your first project

  1. Type "add a sample clip" into the chat.
  2. When the clip appears in the asset panel, drag it onto track 1.
  3. Press Space to play / pause.
  4. Saving is automatic — ~/.bom/timelines/<project>.json updates immediately.
