Settings
Settings is where you configure how Bom runs on your desktop.
General
The General section controls everyday desktop behavior: interface language, desktop notifications, start-on-login, verbose output, and the default working directory.
Warning
Bom reads and writes files primarily inside your chosen working directory plus Bom-managed folders. Pick a folder that contains the files you expect Bom to work with.
Agent
The Agent section controls which local AI CLI Bom uses and how it behaves.
- Provider selection: Claude Code or Codex
- Provider sign-in status and account checks
- Model selection and reasoning effort
- Auto-resume and auto-approve behavior
Connections
The Connections section is where you prepare sites and external services for automation.
- Browser Sign-In opens Bom's managed browser profile so you can sign into websites for later automation.
- Notion connect or disconnect controls your Notion integration state.
- Reconnect, disconnect, and logout actions manage the desktop agent's current account and server session.
System Checks
The System section verifies that the desktop app has the permissions and local tooling it needs.
- Permission checks and shortcuts to OS settings when Bom needs additional access
- Essential environment checks
- Required tool status and reinstall actions for missing runtimes or CLIs
